The long-standing cooperation between the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems of the University of Passau and the Department of Management Studies of the IIT Madras in research and teaching will be further intensified and sustained in the long term.
German and Indian doctoral students will be able to spend research periods at the partner institution, which will also enable them to comply with the requirements of the Joint Doctoral Degree Programme agreed upon in 2014. This programme has already been successfully completed by 3 Indian doctoral students.
The participation of Passauer scientists in the annual German-Indian Doctoral Seminar at the IIT Madras and the annual Information Systems Workshop at the IIT Madras enables Passau and Indian scientists to exchange ideas and promote joint research work.
Visiting professors from IIT Madras give lectures in Passau in English language. This complements the range of lectures offered by the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. Furthermore, students and young academics from Passau will be able to get in contact with the Indian professors and thus gain insight into research and teaching at the IIT Madras as well as initiate possible research projects.
German and Indian Master students will be enabled to visit the partner institution. In addition to gaining knowledge in business subjects, the students also acquire intercultural skills. Excellent students will also be offered the opportunity to obtain a Master of Science double degree through the Joint Master’s Degree Programme agreed upon in 2018. The first German and Indian students have already been accepted into the programme. Students who successfully complete the Joint Master’s Degree Programme have the best prerequisites for admission to the Joint Doctoral Degree Programme with recognition of the time spent at the partner institution during the Master studies.
