Prof. Lehner to retire after 20 years at the University of Passau on October 1, 2024
“After 33 years as Professor of Information Systems, the last 20 of which I spent at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Passau, I will be retiring on October 1. During this time, Information Systems has become a recognized and sought-after subject. The enormous technological progress over this long period has also shaped the development of this subject, in which I have been able to actively participate in many roles. I am delighted that business informatics at the University of Passau today stands for a modern and future-oriented education and also enjoys a high national and international reputation in research.
The changes that have accompanied and influenced my personal professional life will probably remain with the subject for some time to come and answers must be found to many major challenges. However, I am convinced that the University of Passau and, above all, Business Informatics are in an excellent position here and I wish everyone who is involved in the further development much joy and success.
I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and thank you for the time we have spent together. The photos of the farewell lecture on July 26 are a sign of the solidarity that goes beyond my active professional life. I would like to thank the students for their interest in the subject and their commitment, the administrative staff for their consistently constructive support, and my colleagues beyond the boundaries of the subject for their cooperation and the many interesting discussions and joint projects!”
